Cathy's Tribute Fund

Created by Peter 16 years ago
Welcome to the Cathy Burgess Tribute Fund. We have created this page to help raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association. Cathy was a very special person who inspired all of us who were privileged to know her. She loved all her family and friends dearly, and lived life to the full with energy and humour. One of her personal mantras was to try to have a new experience every day. She spent all of her working life in the NHS, initially as a nurse, then a midwife, followed by climbing up the rungs of management before becoming an executive director in (the former) Leicestershire Strategic Health Authority. Her contributions were marked with a devotion to the needs of patients, along with courage and creativity in grappling with the complexities of a rapidly evolving health service. In April 2001 she was diagnosed with motor neurone disease. She responded with characteristic bravery in deciding to make the most of what time she had left. She continued her work in the NHS, which included finding a new role as a mentor, helping many who were making the difficult transition from clinical work to management. She also raised considerable sums for the MNDA. Cathy died 1st June 2003, and is much missed, but always remembered. Please consider making an online donation in her memory or if you prefer you can help us raise money for this Tribute Fund by creating an online sponsorship page to mark a special event or occasion. All money raised on these pages will be earmarked as being donations made via this Tribute Fund when they reach the Motor Neurone Disease Association. Simply choose one of the links above to see what you can do. If you like, you can also sign the guest book and tell other people about this service. Kind Regards, Peter Burgess
